Lovefly® Blog - Celebrities with a fear of flying

It might surprise you to know that approximately 1 in 5 people have a fear of flying (YouGov)?

Not us.  We have met thousands of people just like you that have had a fear of flying..and now are rid of it.

Many tell us that they are surprised so many celebrities also have a fear of flying.  Again, not to us.  Celebs are humans at the end of the day. Even having more resources doesn't make it easier to get rid of your fears.  We have helped many celebs over the years.

According to popcrush.com, the following 25 celebrities are like you and allegedly have, or have had, a fear of flying...

Nick Jonas, Miley Cyrus, Travis Barker, Sandra Bullock, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Shailene Woodley, Jennifer Lawrence, Lucy Hale, Britney Spears, Billy Bob Thornton, Megan Fox, William Shatner, Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Colin Farrell, Jennifer Connelly, Aretha Franklin, Whoopi Goldberg, Wes Anderson, Gary Barlow, Royce White, Kendra Wilkinson, John Madden & Sean Bean...

Some of the reasons that they are no quicker than you to get help have included:

  • Who can you trust to disclose it to?  Will they just be after my money?
  • Will the person you go to for help be actually able to help or, will they be too overwhelmed with your celebrity?
  • When would I have time to do something about it?  Celebs, like successful people, are extremely busy.
  • Celebs often feel pulled in many directions...told to be here, then somewhere else 18 minutes later!  Having a fear of flying, for some celebs, gives them back an element of control. Their staff have to build time in to travel by other, often more lengthy ways.  To the celeb = time back and some control.
These are just some of the things we have heard over the years.  Like you, they are all individuals and so we have to be careful not to generalise.  All humans have an inner conflict when it comes to beating fears.  Part of you will want rid of the fear. Another part of you, wants to keep it...it has kept you alive after all!  Essentially, we have to decide to do something about a fear of flying - many just do not want to.  It is as simple as that.  No matter how frustrated partners or family get with them...if a person doesn't want to face their fear, they won't.

Doesn't have to be that way though.  Beating a fear, bit by bit, at your own pace is what we recommend.  Beating a fear takes the amount of time it takes and it is different for each individual.  Ignoring it, medicating it away or using props like alcohol are not good long term solutions.

So, whilst you are in good company with those celebs.  How about joining a different group? Just need to keep taking the steps and it doesn't have to cost lots of money either.

Take care,
